People come to Freemasonry from all walks of life and for many different reasons. We do not recruit — we welcome. If you are curious, that is enough to start.
Hull Old Grammarians' Lodge is a lodge of friendship, tradition, and proper hospitality. Some of our members share a connection to the former Hull Grammar School and its alumni, but what binds us is something simpler: mutual respect and a good table.
The process is straightforward. Send us a note. We will invite you for an informal chat at the lodge — no commitment on either side, just a chance to put faces to names and answer your questions honestly.
If it feels right for you, we will guide you through the next steps at your own pace. There is no rush.
What to expect
- An informal conversation with the Secretary or a senior member
- A short interview at the lodge or a local pub — relaxed, not formal
- Plenty of time to consider and ask further questions
- A sponsor among the brethren who will guide you through the process

If you have been to the lodge, or a brother has asked you to, you can ask for a website account. It gives you a place to book the festive board and to hear from us, and the lodge will decide what else you see.
